Crop Circles

36 The Cherhill crop circle followed the lovely Aldbourne design and was placed in a beautiful and often visited field below a ridge adorned with both an obelisk and a chalk white horse. The nine pointed star is formed by overlaying three equilateral triangles. In the centre is a stunning pattern of six delicate turning crescents. The Devils Den formation was a simple sixpointed star sited next to an ancient stone structure high on Marlborough Down. It was distinguished by an exquisite arrangement of rings and precisely proportioned circles. The Roundway formation, at nearly 400 feet diameter, continued the sevenfold motif of 1998 with an absolutely original design. All Cannings, a ninefold, displayed elegant tufts of standing wheat between its star points. Woodborough again explored the geometry of nine, producing a uniquely innovative figure.
