Crop Circles

6 Even in the early years, it was clear that the Circlemakers for what else can we call them were trying to get our attention. They played simple number and geometry games and this page illustrates some of their experiments with threeness. Two of the triplets shown are based on equilateral triangles. One is a simple arrangement of three circles while in the other, three circles are grouped around a central larger circle. The larger central or mother circle was to become a recurrent feature of themes in subsequent years, as were triangles and triads. The threeinline pattern was also explored, as always with a bigger central circle and once, at Upton Scudamore, with the central circle multiply ringed. To give a sense of scale, the circles at Corhampton were each about 30 feet in diameter.
