54 55 more mysTerIes lost artifacts and patterns of unicorns So much has been lost. The dolmen opposite top and the magical barrow below were both recorded by Stukeley in his book on Avebury. Both are no longer with us. Stukeley wrote of the Monkton Millbarrow In Monkton, west of the town, is a large and flat long barrow ... 215f long 55 broad set round with great stones. It stands due east and west, the broadest end eastward. Its breadth the fourth part of its length a most magnificent sepulchre, and calld Milbarrow. Far away to the northeast on the Ridgeway path can be found the ancient Uffington White Horse hill figure, and another little Silbury Hill called Dragon Hill. Many other more modern White Horses cluster in the area and if you draw lines between them they cross at Avebury.
